Install Technician

The Installer is will assist in various phases of physical product installation and set-up. He reports to the Lead Installer, General Manager, Design/Engineer, Sales/Designer, Project Manager. His primary duties include:

A general functional review of the following layout and design concepts for implementation of:

  • Audio, video and control signal distribution
  • security and surveillance system layout and signal distribution
  • climate control layout and control system signal distribution
  • lighting control layout, panel mounting and signal distribution
  • structured wiring (low-voltage) layouts for all signal types
  • internet, LAN and wireless signal distribution
  • AC power locations and management relating to system racks & cabinets
  • Physical space locations for all equipment mountings and architectural plans for fit and finish detail of system components into the home
  • Control interfaces (both wired and wireless) and their signal distribution
  • Telephone and entry systems signal distribution
  • Motorized lifts, window treatments and other controlled devices signal layouts and distribution.
  • Service providers from cable, telco and satellite signal distribution

Physical Rack – Cabinetry Populating and Configuration as applies to:

  • interpreting presented CADD documentation
  • layout of physical components with proper access, wiring and ventilation
  • internal signal routing and separation of AC power management
  • delivery and installation of racks and/or cabinets to their proper locations
  • wiring details, including labeling and component ID (for programming)
  • innovative methods to recommend solutions and overcoming errors
  • Architectural Installation

 

Installation of all products into the architecture of the home for fit and finish, including:

  • pre-wiring for signal routing according to the CEDIA/CSA standards/code
  • fitting mounts and roughing in brackets, wall boxes, back boxes, etc.
  • installation: speakers, lighting control enclosures, motors, lifts, racks
  • installation: video displays, control peripherals, cameras, phones, etc.
  • installation: networks, network components, interfaces with 3rd-party
  • configuration of AC, service providers, external systems with our delivery
  • preparation of systems for programming and customer-desired services

 

System Follow-Up

  • assist Engineer with overview and review of any pending installation
  • assist Project Manager with daily project reports, updates and corrections
  • assist Design/Engineer with updates, as-built sketches/documents
  • accountability for all requested tasks of the work schedule on-time

Additionally, the Junior Install Technician shall be responsible for:

  • Providing a daily time sheet of information for the:
    • duration of job site work time, in-shop work, or elsewhere (as required)
    • information about the project day, including deficiencies, parts used, parts needed, issues on the project site, changes to the project scope, communications from 3rd parties, communications from clients, and other relevant items on the work order
    • extra expenses incurred for purchases made of parts or tools required
  • providing Sales, Design/Engineer and Sales with field needs, such as tools, van items, or other items needed to make the field work run smoothly
  • provide Design/Engineer and/or Project Management with requested new training
